Varanasi: Varanasi boy Sashwat Pandey, 21, a graduate of St Stephen's College, University of Delhi, has been elected as one of the youngest curators in Global Shapers Community of
World Economic Forum (WEF).
Global Shapers Community is a worldwide community of active changemakers committed to driving dialogue, action, and change in their communities.
A native of Varanasi's Sigra area, Sashwat has been invited to attend the Global Shapers Annual Summit in Geneva, Switzerland, from July 9 to 11.
With hubs in over 150 countries, the initiative empowers young people to address critical global issues such as climate change, economic inequality, and social innovation.
"Sashwat has been elected as a curator because of his leadership potential, dedication, and ability to inspire youth participation in policy and governance.
He previously served as the Asia Chair of the International Association of Political Science Students (IAPSS) and was a key figure in India's G20 youth engagement group, Y20 India, and the Y20 Summit in Varanasi. He led the Indian delegation to Russia for the World Youth Festival 2024 and represented India in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, at UNESCO's Summit on the Future of Youth and Entrepreneurship Education.
"What makes this role special for me is that it gives me the opportunity to serve the youth of Kashi and make the most of this platform to work towards the vision of youth for Viksit Bharat," said Sashwat.
"I strongly believe young people have a crucial role to play in shaping the future, and through this platform, I hope to drive meaningful impact, particularly in the areas of education, governance, and youth empowerment," he said.
