Man beaten to death by lover’s family in Dehat

Kanpur: A 27-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by the family members of his lover in Akbarnagar town under Bhognipur police station area of Kanpur Dehat district.
Sanjay Kumar, son of Ram Chandra, resided with his mother Meera Devi and brother Shobhit in Akbar Nagar. The incident occurred on Sunday while his mother and brother had gone to attend a birthday celebration in Akbarpur.
According to his uncle, Sanjay was romantically involved with a girl, which faced strong opposition from her family. Despite warnings from his own family, he persisted.
The situation worsened on Sunday when Sanjay attempted to meet the girl. Her family reportedly confronted him with sticks, forcibly took him to their house, assaulted him and later abandoned him unconscious at their doorstep. They contacted the police claiming that he trespassed into their house.
Devipur outpost officer Ram Kishun Verma shifted the injured man to Devipur CHC. The medical superintendent noted signs of injury and detected poison traces in his vomit. After initial treatment, he was transferred to the district hospital, and subsequently, his family moved him to Kanpur's Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. CO Sanjay Kumar Singh and inspector Anjan Kumar Singh are conducting investigations. "Two persons from the girl's side are in custody and are currently being questioned," they said. tnn
