Dumka: Godda police on Monday detained 18 workers who were observing a hunger strike outside the Adani power plant in Godda . The demonstrations were ongoing since Apr 3 against the company's decision to empanel a new outsourcing company. Baidyanath Oraon, Godda SDO (civil), said demonstrators were detained to maintain order during Ram Navami processions.
The company called the protests uncalled for. Stating that their services were still secure with the present outsourcing company under similar service conditions, company sources said the demonstrators were being provoked by a few local people's representatives. Labour minister Sanjay Prasad Yadav, also the local MLA, said he was aware of the demands. "As the minister concerned, I will look into the matter to safeguard the interests of the land losers," he said. TNN
