Missing 2-Year-Old Wearing Only Diaper Rescued Thanks to Infrared Camera

A 2-year-old boy who went missing from his home wearing only a diaper was found alive and well by state police in Michigan, thanks to infrared technology.

Michigan State Police (MSP) said a helicopter “located a heat signature in a ditch near I-94” in Jackson, and was able to direct police on the ground who “found the 2-year-old conscious and alert.”

Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety said the toddler was found “down in a ditch, curled up, wearing only a diaper” and had been missing from home for three hours, where he was last seen watching TV.

“The child was comforted, taken to a waiting ambulance and transported to Henry Ford Hospital,” MSP said.

The Department of Public Safety praised the use of technology in helping find the boy.

“Great video from the Michigan State Police showing how technology and a strong working relationship with local partners can really make a difference,” they wrote. Credit: MSP First District via Storyful
