Ola Electric inflated sales numbers with unlaunched models

The Gen 3 Ola S1 and Roadster X accounted for nearly 50% of the 25,207 “confirmed orders” in February.

Ola Electric inflated its February sales figures by including e-scooters and motorcycles that were yet to be launched in the market.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), Ola Electric added 10,866 customer bookings for the Gen 3 Ola S1 and 1,395 Roadster X bookings to its February sales numbers under the “confirmed orders” header.

The Gen 3 Ola S1 and Roadster X accounted for nearly 50% of the 25,207 “confirmed orders” in February. However, the vehicle registration data showed only 8,600 units

When asked for a clarification over the discrepancy in its sales numbers, Ola Electric said that these were vehicle bookings but did not clarify if these were invoiced or delivered to customers.

MoRTH has asked Ola to revise its February sales data and include only those vehicles that were invoiced during the month. The ministry has also sought a response from the company within 7 days.
