Prayagraj: A joint team of Saini, Karari and the special operation group (SOG) of Kaushambi police on Sunday arrested three kidnappers and rescued a 13-year-old boy (special child) from their clutches within 12 hours of the kidnapping.
The boy was allegedly kidnapped by a group of three kidnappers from Kaushambi district late on Saturday night. The boy was sleeping with his brother in his house when he was kidnapped.
The police were informed at 12:05 am on Saturday night on dial 112. The family told the police that an unidentified man barged into the house and took the boy towards Kadadham area on bike.
On being alerted, senior police officials, including SP and ASP (Kaushambi), along with forces, arrived at the spot and carried out investigations. The police also recovered a letter mentioning a ransom amount, following which an FIR under section 140 (3) of BNS was registered with the police station concerned.
The joint team, acting upon a specific tip-off, cordoned the area near Kadakshah Dargarh Road. In an exchange of fire with police, three kidnappers were injured and arrested.
The police rescued the boy and seized three illegal weapons along with cartridges and a car. The injured kidnappers were admitted to the district hospital, Manjhanpur, for treatment.
SP (Kaushambi) Brijesh Srivastava told TOI that the arrested kidnappers revealed that the boy's father had sold a piece of land worth Rs 80 lakh after which they planned to kidnap the boy and seek a Rs 25 lakh ransom. The kidnappers planned to take five instalments of Rs five lakh from the boy's father, assuming that he would not approach the police. One of the kidnappers was a frequent visitor to the victim's house and was well acquainted with the land deal, said police.
