Powerloom job workers in Coimbatore, Tiruppur districts to go on indefinite fast from April 11 demanding wage revision

Published - April 07, 2025 05:53 pm IST - Coimbatore

Coimbatore and Tiruppur District Powerloom (wage earners) Owners Association has announced that members will go on an indefinite fast in Somanur starting April 11, demanding a fair revision of wages for weaving work.

The decision was taken at a district-level federation meeting held on Monday at the association office in Somanur. Office-bearers and representatives from various regional federations attended the meeting.

The federation has urged the District Collectors of Coimbatore and Tiruppur to initiate talks with textile manufacturers and facilitate a resolution through a reasonable wage revision.

Until the fast is over on April 15, the federation has appealed to regional printing units, and vehicle operators involved in yarn transportation, to suspend operations in support of the protest.
