Six injured as van collides with tractor in Namakkal

Namakkal: Six people travelling in a van were injured following a head-on collision with a tractor near Paramathi Velur in Namakkal district, early on Saturday.
Police said the van was heading from Jedarpalayam to Kabilarmalai, while the tractor was heading from Paramathi Velur to Kabilarmalai. "The tractor driver abruptly swerved to the opposite side to enter a fuel station. The van driver, V Saravanan, 38, from Sollipalayam, who did not anticipate the maneuver, collided with the tractor," said an officer from Jedarpalayam police station.
He added that Saravanan and five others who were in the van suffered injuries and were shifted to the government hospital in Paramathi Velur for medical attention. Meanwhile, the tractor driver fled the scene following the accident.
Police have registered a case and are investigating further.
