Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud has taken strong exception to Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s recent comments on the Congress government in the State and suggested him to desist from making such unsavoury comments.

He also challenged Mr. Sanjay to prove his party’s commitment towards the welfare of the Backward Classes (BCs) by ensuring constitutional protection for the proposed 42% quota.

In a statement, Mr. Mahesh Kumar Goud has dismissed Mr. Sanjay’s comments that the Congress government was taking credit for the fine quality rice (Sanna Biyyam) being distributed through fair price shops under the public distribution system (PDS) while the NDA government at the Centre is supplying the fine rice. “If the fine rice is supplied by the Centre, it can be implemented across the nation,” he said.

He also dared the Karimnagar MP to persuade Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the inclusion of 42% Reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in the 9th Schedule of the Indian Constitution and conduct a caste survey across the nation to prove the BJP’s commitment towards BC welfare.

Referring to the BJP’s internal issues in Telangana, the PCC president criticised the BJP for its inability to appoint a State president for an extended period. He also accused the BJP of having a clandestine agreement with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in the local body elections as it lacks confidence to face the elections alone.

Mr. Mahesh Kumar Goud also countered the BJP’s claims on various issues, including the Waqf Board Bill, stating that the Congress had taken a decision to oppose the Bill, prioritising minority rights. He ridiculed Mr. Sanjay stating he was making unwarranted comments as he was unhappy for not being appointed as the State president.
