Driven by reforms & auctions, mines dept posts record revenue
Jaipur: Rajasthan's department of mines earned a revenue of Rs 9,202.5 crore in FY 2024-25, the highest for any financial year yet, the department said Tuesday. It recorded a collection of Rs 1,742 crore more than the last fiscal, achieving a growth rate of 23.4%.
Principal secretary, mines and geology, T Ravikanth, said, "This appears to be the highest revenue collection in the history of the mines department. This year, Rajasthan saw the highest number of auctions for major and minor mineral blocks and plots, along with the introduction of a new mineral policy, a new M-sand policy, and investment agreements in the mining sector during the Rising Rajasthan summit. The system has been made more transparent and simplified. In 2023-24, revenue collected was Rs 7,460.5 crore."
Rajasthan secured the top position in India in mineral block auctions and is now likely leading in revenue growth too.
Director, mines, Deepak Tanwar, said, "The highest revenue collection was recorded in the Bhilwara circle followed by Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Rajsamand, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Kota, and Bharatpur, respectively."
Tanwar added, "The mining sector is continuously contributing to the state's economy."
Jaipur Circle secured the first position by collecting Rs 180.1 crore in revenue, as compared to Rs 111 crore collected in 2023-24.
Jhunjhunu collected Rs 216.2 crore compared to Rs 176.1 crore in the previous fiscal, while Alwar collected Rs 161.3 crore compared to Rs 123.7 crore.
Similarly, Sikar collected Rs 63.1 crore compared to Rs 41.7 crore, Tonk collected Rs 190.8 crore compared to Rs 119.7 crore, and Kotputli Rs 172.5 crore compared to Rs 123.8 crore.
