Asia-Oceania WJT: India meets Thailand for ninth place

India outplayed Sri Lanka 3-0, dropping six games in all, in the play-off match for the 9th to 12 places in the Asia-Oceania WJT under-14 girls tennis championship in Kuching, Malaysia, on Sunday.

India will play Thailand in the match for the ninth place. Japan and Kora beat China and Taiwan by an identical 2-0 margin to set up a title clash.

Incidentally, India was clubbed with Japan and Korea in the league stage, and had placed third in the group ahead of host Malaysia.

The results: Play-off 9th-12th place: India bt Sri Lanka 3-0 (Srishti Kiran bt Sahansa Pelandage 6-0, 6-2; Jensi Kanabar bt Annaya Norbet 6-0 6-2; Jensi & Aaradhya Meena bt Eliza Kahagalla & Annaya 6-2, 6-0).
