Jaipur: Health department has introduced 132 additional packages within Mukyamantri Ayushman Arogya (MAA) Yojana, though these are limited to treatment at govt hospitals. The 132 packges include 39 for robotic surgery. In govt hospitals, only SMS Hospital has robotic surgery available in the general surgery and urology departments. These facilites were lying almost defunct, but now with packages added to the CM's insurance scheme, robotic surgery is likely to find more takers.
Packages for robotic surgeries include robotic assisted surgery for removal of gall bladder, robotic assisted surgical procedure to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), robotic assisted surgical procedure to remove the spleen and womb.
To avail of the insurance packages for robotic surgery, patients require a letter of recommendation from a govt-appointed committee stating that the surgery is necessary.
Until now, robotic surgery was not included under MAA Yojana. However, these packages will only be available at govt hospitals.
Other new packages include for geriatric care, mental health for adolescents, oral cancer, packages for special disabled persons, neurosurgery procedures, plastic surgery, skin transplant, and cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.
A health department official said, "These packages will remain reserved for govt hospitals as the cost will be borned by Rajasthan State Health Assurance Agency."
