Buxar: Four members of a family died and three others were injured when the car they were travelling in collided with a stationary sand-laden truck on NH-922 near Harikishunpur village under the Industrial Area police station in Buxar district on Sunday morning.
The family members were on way to a cremation ground at Buxar Charitravan from Shivpur Tola, located in the Bikramganj subdivision of Rohtas district, to perform last rites when the accident occurred.
According to police, the deceased were identified as Pramod Singh (46), his 10-year-old son Pratap Kumar, Pappu Singh (45) and Ritesh Kumar (12). All the deceased were relatives and residents of Shivpur Tola village, which falls under the Bikramganj police station area in Rohtas district.
The police took the injured to Buxar sadar hospital, from where they were referred to Varanasi after receiving primary treatment. However, Pratap succumbed to his injuries on way to Varanasi.
SHO of Industrial Area police station, Sanjay Kumar, said, "Three people died on the spot while Bunty succumbed to his injuries on way to Varanasi. The injured people, including Rohit Kumar (14), Premchand (20), and Bhola Singh, are undergoing treatment at a trauma centre in Varanasi. The condition of all of them is stated to be stable."
The SHO added that the family had been travelling to perform the last rites of Phool Patiya Devi, the mother of one of the deceased, Pramod Singh, when the accident occurred.
