Belagavi: A case of murder was solved by the Khanapur police, revealing a chilling plot orchestrated by the victim's wife and her lover. Shivanagouda Iranagouda Patil, 48, a resident of Baloga, was found dead on April 2 near Gadikoppa, his head brutally smashed with a stone. The investigation led to the arrest of his wife Shaila Patil and her paramour, Rudrapa Hoshetti.
According to police reports, Shivanagouda was murdered on his way back to his village on April 1 after attending a fair in Dastikopp. Initially, the death appeared to be a random act of violence. However, investigations revealed a deeper, more sinister act of crime.
Police sources indicated that Shaila Patil and Rudrapa Hoshetti were having an extramarital affair, which Shivanagouda strongly opposed. Sources indicate he warned his wife to end the relationship several months ago. Undeterred, the due allegedly plotted to eliminate Shivanagouda.
In a particularly disturbing twist, investigating officials discovered that Shaila witnessed her husband's murder via a video call made by Hoshetti. She reportedly watched as Hoshetti struck Shivanagouda with a stone. The following day, she allegedly feigned grief at her husband's funeral.
Police sources also said that Shaila, driven by her desire to continue her affair, allegedly paid Rudrappa to carry out the murder. Phone records from her mobile phone provided crucial leads for the investigation.
Both Shaila Patil and Rudrappa Hoshetti were arrested and presented before the court on Saturday. They were remanded to judicial custody as the investigation continues. The case has sent shockwaves through the local community.
