Patna: The common facility centre, a major component of the Smart City Project, is expected to be completed by June this year, an official from the urban development and housing department said.
Located near the upcoming Mithapur Metro Station, the centre will provide a wide range of services under one roof, catering to both the youth and the general public. Spread across 26,000 square feet, the facility is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore.
The G+2 (ground plus two floors) building will comprise four blocks, each offering essential facilities. On the ground floor, there will be a post office, a municipal corporation office, a bank, an open-air theatre, an ATM and a public courtyard.
The first floor will cater to the daily needs of young people with convenience stores, general shops, a stationery outlet, a salon and a beauty parlour.
The second floor will feature a kitchen and store, the govt-run ‘Didi Ki Rasoi' and an open-air café. Each floor will also have separate toilet facilities for men and women. The building will be equipped with two high-speed lifts, staircases, a gym and a shopping mall.
Supporting infrastructure is also being developed around the facility. A pavement quality concrete (PQC) road has been constructed along a 25-metre right of way (ROW) at a cost of Rs 5.79 crore. In this stretch, stormwater drains and utility ducts have been installed in front of the common facility centre to ensure effective water management.
In addition, a 15.3-metre ROW road, complete with storm drains and utility ducts, has been constructed outside the Chanakya National Law University at a cost of Rs 7.11 crore. Site development around the common facility building, including beautification works, footpaths and traffic management infrastructure, has been completed at an additional cost of Rs 1.43 crore.
"This facility will be highly beneficial for students studying in nearby educational institutions, as it will provide for many of their daily needs in one convenient location," the official said.
