In view of student safety amid the heatwave, the office of the director of primary education issues a circular instructing schools not to conduct open-air classes during the summer. Additionally, schools are advised to make necessary adjustments to their schedules as required during the hot season. The circular is sent to all DEOs and DPEOs across the state, urging them to implement the Heatwave Action Plan.
According to sources, the office of the relief commissioner and the revenue department secretary emphasises the need for early preparedness. As a result, the Gujarat Heatwave Action Plan 2025 has been put into effect, categorising heatwaves as a "silent disaster" and calling for strict precautionary measures. The director of primary education mandates adherence to heatwave-related guidelines in all primary schools.
The issued guidelines instruct teachers to educate students about heatwaves, their effects, and preventive measures. Furthermore, conducting open-air classes during summer is strictly prohibited. Schools are also urged to make necessary adjustments to their timings to safeguard students from extreme heat.
