The Government Railway Police (GRP), Korukkupet, have arrested a 34-year-old man on the charge of sexually harassing a woman passenger at the Thiruvottriyur railway station.

The police said the woman commutes regularly by EMU train from home to office and vice versa.

On the night of March 28, she boarded the ladies’ compartment and travelled to Thiruvottriyur. At 7.45 p.m., as she was walking on the railway track, an unidentified person walked towards her, touched her inappropriately, and fled the scene.

Based on the woman’s complaint, the GRP conducted an investigation and arrested a suspect, who has been identified as M. Delhi Babu, 32, a resident of Old Washermenpet. He worked at a private firm in Perambur.

Babu has been remanded to judicial custody, the police said.
