This is the world’s fastest missile, capable of…, country that owns it is… not US, Israel or China

After the Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas wars, several countries are actively working to strengthen their defence capabilities. Recently, European nations have begun purchasing missiles from the US and other countries to protect themselves from potential threats posed by Russia. Smaller countries are also bolstering their arsenals to defend against possible attacks. The ongoing conflicts have demonstrated how crucial drones and missiles are, and how these two weapons can change the entire course of a war. That is why countries like China are developing and upgrading their hypersonic missiles. But do you know which country has the world’s fastest missile? Let’s find out.

World’s Fastest Missile

The fastest missile doesn’t just mean it will hit its target in no time — it also means it can remain undetectable to even the most powerful radar systems. Missile speed has become increasingly crucial, especially as countries like China, the US, and France are developing advanced radar technologies to detect hypersonic threats. Currently, Russia holds the title for having the world’s fastest missile. Its Zircon hypersonic missile is considered the fastest missile on the planet.

Zircon Hypersonic Missile

Russia’s Zircon Hypersonic missile has the ability to attack up to 1000 km at the speed of Mach 8. After this, Russia’s Kinzhal hypersonic missile comes in second place. China is in the second place with its DF-17, DF-41, DF-ZF, and Shing Kong 2 hypersonic missiles. It is noteworthy that, India has tested its first hypersonic missile a few days ago and is ready to join the list of countries with hypersonic missiles.

Hypersonic Missile

Hypersonic missiles, exceeding five times the speed of sound, represent a significant advancement in weaponry. Their maneuverability during flight distinguishes them from ballistic missiles, rendering interception exceptionally challenging. Capable of delivering conventional or nuclear payloads with speed and accuracy, these weapons are driving substantial investment from nations such as the US, China, and Russia.  Their ability to circumvent current air defenses and achieve rapid target acquisition is transforming modern warfare and altering the global military landscape.
