As many as 677 students from five batches graduated on the first day of the annual convocation of the Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode (IIMK), held at the campus on Friday (April 4).
Soumitra Dutta, Dean of the Saïd Business School of the University of Oxford, was the chief guest on the occasion. Managing director and CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund, Radhika Gupta, was the guest of honour.
Mr. Dutta, in his address, shed light on how India has now captured the world’s imagination and how the country’s perception has changed drastically over the years.
He encouraged the graduates to explore, ask the right questions, and move forward with courage to achieve objectives determinedly.
“Science and technology are driving the change exponentially. We are witness to a confluence of three important revolutions — digital revolution, biological revolution, and physical revolution — which will create enormous opportunities for young Indians,” he added.
Ms. Gupta encouraged the graduates to never shy away from challenges and to take on every role. “Risk is an expense in the short term and an investment in the long term,” she added. She emphasised that India’s demographic dividend will define the trajectory of the country in the coming years.
Vinita Bajoria, member of the IIMK Board of Governors, officiated the event as chairperson, while IIMK Director Debashis Chatterjee was also present.
Graduates of the Post Graduate Programme (PGP), PGP in Liberal Studies (PGP-LSM), PGP in Finance (PGP-FIN), PGP in Business Leadership (PGP-BL), and Doctoral Programme in Management (PhD) received their certificates on the occasion.
The convocation for executive programmes at IIMK will take place on Saturday (April 5), where 641 students are to receive their degrees.
V. Narayanan, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation, will be the chief guest on the occasion, while R. Dinesh, executive chairman of TVS Supply Chain Solutions, will be the guest of honour.
