Suresh Gopi has the responsibility as the MP of Thrissur and the Union Minister of State to ensure that a case is registered in connection with the attack on Father Davis George from Thrissur in Jabalpur, Thrissur District Congress Committee president and Leader of the Opposition in the district panchayat Joseph Tajet has said.
“His reaction as a people’s representative is deeply disappointing. While he speaks in support of minority rights in Parliament, he pretends not to see minorities being attacked outside,” said Mr. Tajet.
He demanded that Mr. Gopi visit the priest’s residence, given that the priest belonged to his constituency. Mr. Tajet visited the priest’s house to meet his family. He called on the Union Minister to act swiftly to ensure that the attackers were arrested.
