Mohali: The police have intensified their efforts to curb miscreant activity by setting up 15 special check posts in a single evening. Utilising the Punjab Artificial Intelligence System (PAIS) app, police identified habitual offenders and took strict action against violators.
The operation, which involved 161 policemen, led to 330 challans being issued, 687 two-wheelers and 481 other vehicles being checked, and 11 vehicles being impounded for lack of proper documentation. The entire operation was supervised by Mohali SSP Deepak Pareek.
SSP Pareek said the 15 special nakas were enforced under the supervision of all circle officers in Mohali. A coordinated blockade was executed by all chief officers of police stations and checkpoint in-charges to verify vehicles through the Vahan app or through physical checks. Suspicious individuals were rounded up and verified through the PAIS app before being released. No objectionable items were found during the operation.
"We launched a massive drive against bad elements and drug runners in the district. We set up 15 check posts across the district, supervised by area SHOs, where 687 two-wheelers and 481 other vehicles were checked. Around 161 policemen were deployed to check all vehicles at random. In total, 163 suspicious persons were checked at 15 nakas," SSP Pareek said.
The SSP also said that the operation was highly effective, resulting in 330 violators being challaned and 11 vehicles being impounded due to a lack of valid documents.
