Varanasi: The Ballia police on Friday arrested an imposter for disguising as sub-inspector to influence people for personal gain. The police have recovered a toy gun, a .315 bore country-made pistol, one live .315 bore cartridge, one spent cartridge, a fake police ID card, a white car, and six ATM cards from his possession.
According to reports, the police personnel led by the Nagara SO, Kaushal Pathak, nabbed the fake SI during a check near fire station on Gaura Madanpura road. The arrested person was identified as Amit Kumar Yadav, a resident of Gaura Madanpura in the Nagra police station area of Ballia district.
During interrogation he admitted using fake ID and uniform to exert influence over the public for personal gain. It was also revealed from police records that the accused has a criminal history and was wanted in five cases in different district.
He was booked under sections 319(2), 318(4), 336(3), 339, 340(2) of BNS, and 3/25 Arms Act. After completing the legal proceedings, the police presented him in court.
