Woman dies, kin accuse hosp of negligence
Kanpur: A local BJP functionary died during treatment at a private hospital in Kalyanpur police station area of the city on Wednesday. The family members have accused the hospital of negligence and alleged that the patient was administered wrong injection causing death.
Sunita Shukla, former district secretary of the BJP's women's wing and a resident of Awas Vikas in Kalyanpur, went to a private hospital after experiencing anxiety and numbness in leg. She died late at night after an injection.
Her family members staged a protest holding the hospital administration responsible for negligence and inadequate medical attention. They demanded a comprehensive and fair inquiry into the case. On being informed, the police reached the site and sent the body for a post-mortem. Her son Krish and daughters Richa, Tripti, and Nancy, along with their relatives, accused the hospital of negligence and staged a protest. They further accused the hospital staff of assaulting Tripti.
Panki Road outpost in-charge Surya Prakash Dubey said that the cause of death will be clarified by the post-mortem report, and further action will be taken accordingly. tnn
