T'puram: City airport will introduce fast-track immigration-trusted traveller programme in two months at its international terminal.
The programme allows registered passengers, including Indian nationals and Overseas Card Holders, to skip counters manned by immigration officials and pass-through e-gates by scanning their passport and boarding pass. Biometrics will be used to authenticate passengers. Foreign nationals will be included in subsequent phases.
The FTI-TTP has been implemented through an online portal ftittp.mha.gov.in. To enrol in this programme, applicants need to complete online registration by filling in their details and uploading the required documents on the portal. The biometric data of registered applicants will be captured either at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office or while passing through the airport.
An immigration official said registration of passengers is going on online and there will be four e-gates for passengers to pass through without manual checks. The machinery will come soon and will be installed soon, he added. Union home minister opened the programme at seven airports on Jan 16. TNN
