Patna: Altogether 5,818 candidates appeared for the pre-PhD test conducted by the Patliputra University (PPU) across six examination centres located in Patna on Friday. The test, which spanned two sittings, was held in 25 major subjects and attracted candidates vying for a total of 803 seats.
According to the PPU examination controller Prof Manoj Kumar, the university ensured the entire examination process was carried out under strict CCTV cameras' surveillance. "A dedicated team of university officials, along with security personnel, oversaw the smooth conduct of test at Ganga Devi Mahila College, Arvind Mahila College, J D Women's College, A N College, T P S College and B D College," he said.
Candidates reported to the centres early in the morning and underwent comprehensive checks before being allowed to enter the examination halls. "The two sittings were meticulously timed to minimize overcrowding and facilitate a seamless experience for the candidates," Kumar said, adding that the test is committed to providing a transparent and fair evaluation environment for all prospective research scholars.
Of all 25 subjects, several major subjects like political science has 74 seats followed by chemistry 66, Hindi 70, economics 57, psychology 57, botany 56, philosophy 48, history 48, physics 38, commerce 25, zoology 24, mathematics 16, geography 12, sociology 20, Urdu 12, English 72, Pali 15 and Maithli 7, sources said.
