Three suspected Maoists arrested in Gaya, two stolen SLRs recovered
Gaya: Three suspected Maoists were arrested, and a cache of arms and ammunition, including two stolen SLR rifles, was recovered recently in Imamganj, Gaya district.
With this, the district police, along with the special task force, have arrested seven suspected Maoists under the ongoing drive against the Reds in a week.
According to the police, while three arrests and recovery of arms were carried out on Thursday afternoon, four arrests were made since March 30. The three accused have been identified as Rupesh Paswan, Uday Kumar and Bablu Kumar.
Senior superintendent of police Anand Kumar said that the cache of arms and ammunition was recovered during a search operation at Tilathi hilly area in Kadirganj village of the district.
The team recovered three SLR rifles, one semi-automatic rifle, seven old and rusted SLR magazines and two Insas magazines. In all, 527 cartridges of SLR, Insas, semi-automatic SLR and .315 bore firearms, walkie-talkie, and a cane bomb, which was defused by the bomb disposal squad, have been recovered during the special drive, he said, adding, "Two of the three SLRs recovered were looted from Imamganj police in 2008 and Gog (Aurangabad district) police respectively".
Kumar said that Paswan, Uday as well as Bablu were picked up from Gangati bazaar in Imamganj, and the arms were recovered following information from the trio.
"Among the other four accused, Rajesh Yadav alias Beehad Yadav had been arrested in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation area in Mahad, Raigarh district. Carrying a reward of Rs one lakh on his head, he had been on the run for the last 11 years. Vikram Kumar alias Kailu Yadav, evading arrest for eight years, was arrested with Lala Sharma in the Goh police station area in Aurangabad on Tuesday (April 1). On Wednesday, another suspect, Brijesh Kumar Singh, evading arrest for eight years, was arrested from the Konch police station area in Gaya", he added.
