Bhopal, April 3, 2025 – The weather across Madhya Pradesh continues to surprise residents this April, a month typically known for rising temperatures. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued fresh alerts predicting thunderstorms, rainfall, and hail in various regions of the state, including Gwalior, Jabalpur, Khargone, and Khandwa, as shifting weather patterns bring temporary relief from the heat while also posing a threat to farmers.
Thunderstorms and Hail Alert for Several Districts
According to the IMD, hailstorms are expected in Khargone, Khandwa, Harda, and Betul. Additionally, gusty winds at speeds of 30–40 km/h and light showers may impact Gwalior, Jabalpur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, and more than 25 other districts.
Cloudy conditions will likely dominate Bhopal and Indore, although widespread thunderstorms and light rainfall are forecast in the northeastern and central parts of the state. These fluctuations are attributed to a combination of western disturbances, a cyclonic circulation, and an active trough system, bringing moisture from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.
Rainfall and Temperature Drop Observed on Wednesday
Unseasonal rainfall and hailstorms were reported in several areas on Wednesday, affecting agricultural regions and impacting daily life. Towns like Mandsaur, Seoni, Chhindwara, Mandla, and Umaria experienced heavy rain, while hail was reported in Garoth and Shamgarh.

The IMD expects the current weather system to weaken by April 4, after which clear skies and a rise in temperatures are anticipated across the state. While clouds may linger over cities like Bhopal, the overall weather pattern will begin transitioning into the usual pre-summer heatwave conditions, especially in western districts.
