The Telangana government has invited applications for new bar licences to replace previously closed establishments, with a deadline set for April 26. This move follows the cancellation of licences for 40 bars across the State due to various reasons, prompting the government to order their renewal.
Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise C. Hari Kiran issued a notification for the reinstatement of notifications for 25 bars across the districts of Telangana - including five bars in Adilabad, one in Karimnagar, four in Warangal, two in Khammam, one in Nalgonda, five in Mahabubnagar, one in Medak, four in Nizamabad and two in Rangareddy district.
Due to the upcoming MLC elections for local bodies under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), applications for 15 bars in urban areas are not being accepted at this time, the authorities clarified.
In Saroornagar, a notification has been released for a new bar licence in Meerpet municipality to replace the previous establishment. Interested applicants must pay an application fee of ₹1 lakh, while the bar licence itself will cost ₹42 lakh. The department has also invited applications for a new bar licence in Kodangal municipality. The application fee has been set at ₹1 lakh, while the annual licence fee will be ₹30 lakh.
