26-year-old man murdered over drunken row between 2 groups
Chennai: A 26-year-old man was murdered at Peravallur on Monday evening after a drunken argument between two groups.
According to police sources, after the drinking session and the argument got over, B Chandru of Agaram was walking along the Loco Works Road in GKM Colony around 6 pm with his friend Santhosh when an autorickshaw suddenly intercepted them.
A person inside the autorickshaw approached Chandru, claiming that he wanted to resolve their dispute.
He then led Chandru into a nearby lane to smoke a cigarette. However, the assailant suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed him three times before fleeing the scene.
Santhosh immediately alerted passersby and rushed Chandru to a government hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Peravallur police have registered a murder case and launched a manhunt for the assailant, who is believed to be a guest worker.
