A woman was found dead at Angadihalli in Belur taluk of Hassan district on Sunday.

The police identified the deceased as Prabhavathi. She married Chris, alias Shanki, three months ago. Prabhavathi and Chris were in love. However, Prabhavathi’s family members did not support their marriage. Three months ago, the duo eloped and got married.

They returned to the village two months later and started living in a separate house. According to Prabhavathi’s elder sister Shruthi, the couple had differences.

Chris harassed Prabhavathi. Unable to bear his harassment, Prabhavathi ended her life, she alleged.

Based on Shruthi’s statement, Halebidu police registered the case.
