Young man found dead in Masaurhi
Patna: A 22-year-old man was found dead in a village in the Masaurhi sub-division of Patna district on Tuesday. Police said the man was probably murdered over a love affair.
The victim, Rajnish Kumar, son of one Sudama Ravidas from Usmanchak village in the Lahsuna police station area, had been missing since Monday night. His body was found in a pit the following morning.
Masaurhi sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Nav Vaibhav said, "Upon receiving information about the incident, the police team arrived at the spot. The young man appears to have been strangled to death. The body has been sent for a post-mortem at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital. We are examining CCTV footage and have deployed a dog squad and forensic team to assist in the investigation. The victim's family has not yet provided any information. Villagers are being questioned and we are currently investigating the case from the angle of a love affair."
"Preliminary investigations suggest that on Monday night, the young woman called Rajnish to meet her near the Usmanchak turn. He arrived with two friends, but unknown assailants were already lying in wait. As Rajnish arrived, the attackers emerged from a nearby field. His friends, frightened, fled, while the assailants took Rajnish away. After killing him, they dumped his body in a water-filled ditch and escaped," police sources said.
Lahsuna SHO, Khusbu Kumari, said the victim's family has not yet lodged a formal complaint. "Action will be taken based on the family's complaint," she added.
