Wichita man identified in fatal crash at I-135 near K-96
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – One person died in a crash on northbound Interstate 135, near 29th Street North and Hydraulic and Kansas Highway 96. It happened just before 6 a.m. Tuesday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says a Pontiac Torrent SUV and a Hyundai Elantra were headed north on I-135 when the Elantra started to take the Hydraulic exit.
Troopers say the SUV hit the back of the Elantra, crossed the northbound lanes, hit the barrier wall, crossed the northbound lanes again, and struck the outside wall before stopping.
The KHP says the driver of the SUV, Jeffery Galbreath, 39, of Wichita, died at the scene.
The 29-year-old woman driving the Elantra was not injured.
