In this article, we will discuss the motivation story of Nilkrishna Gajare, a farmer’s son who cleared the All India Rank(AIR) 1 in the IIT JEE Main 2024 exam.
Held twice a year, the Joint Entrance Examination is one of the most difficult exams in India. Nilkrishna Gajare, son of a farmer from Maharashtra’s Washim district, secured All India Rank(AIR) 1 in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2024. He scored 100(NTA Score)in Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.)
Hailing from Belkhed, a remote village in Washim, Nilkrishna followed a rigorous schedule, dedicating more than 10 hours to prepare for the exams every day. Speaking to PTI over the phone in 2024, Nilkrishna’s father, Nirmal Gajare, expressed his overwhelming joy, stating that he was at a loss for words to describe his pride in his son’s achievement.
Nilkrishna comes from a humble farming background, with his father, Nirmal Gajare, working as a soybean farmer and his mother, Yogita, managing the household. According to media reports, his parents studied only up to the Class 12th grade but always dreamed of a brighter future for their children. Nilkrishna is the first in his family to pursue a college degree. Despite facing challenges like limited electricity and resources in their village, he never lost determination. His younger sister also has big ambitions and hopes to become a Chartered Accountant.
Nilkrishna Gajare studied at Rajeshwar Convent in Akola and J.C. High School in Karanja Lad in Washim. He excelled in academics and sports from a young age and even participated in archery at the state and national levels, reflecting his strong focus and discipline. “Nilkrishna has always been a brilliant student and was good at sports. He participated in the district and national level tournaments in archery,” Nirmal Gajare was quoted as saying by news agency PTI(2024).
After scoring an outstanding 97% in his 10th-grade exams, he aspired to pursue engineering. Although his family faced financial difficulties, he secured a 75% scholarship through a coaching institute’s talent hunt exam, allowing him to start preparing for the JEE. Nilkrishna wakes up by 4 am, studies for two hours, and does “pranayam” (breathing exercises) and again starts studying from 8.30 am and sleeps by 10 pm, Gajare spoke to news agency PTI.
