2 teachers face FIR for making kids to clean toilets
Bengaluru: Two teachers of a govt higher primary school in Begur, southeast Benglauru, landed in trouble for allegedly making students clean school toilets. The incident occurred in Jan but came to light recently.
The headmistress Sakamma and physical training teacher Sumitramma were suspended recently. Police registered a case under Juvenile Justice Act against the two and are investigating.
A political party functionary and social worker, Nagesh from Seshadripuram, lodged a complaint with Begur police on March 29, stating that the two teachers made the children clean the toilet on Jan 16. Nagesh told police he got to know about the incident after a few regional news channels recently broadcast the video and photos of the children cleaning the toilet and school premises.
A senior police officer the education department is conducting an internal inquiry. "Based on Nagesh's complaint, we will issue notice to the teachers to appear for interrogation, and necessary action will be taken after that," he added.
An autorickshaw driver, whose child studies in the school, recorded the kids cleaning the toilet on his mobile phone and circulated it among other parents in Jan. The video was shared with others and went viral after almost two months, the officer added.
