Arunachal cops solve ATM vandalism case, arrest accused in 48hrs

Itanagar: Police in Khonsa of Tirap district solved the case of vandalism at an ATM near the deputy commissioner's office, arresting the suspect within 48 hours.
The incident came to light on Sunday when authorities discovered the damaged ATM. A police team promptly secured the site, recovering several items, including iron rods, a screwdriver, a machete, and a face-covering cloth. CCTV footage revealed an unidentified individual entering the kiosk at 12:15 am, tampering with the light bulb, and attempting to break the vault before leaving at 12:51 am.
Following the evidence, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act.
Intensive searches led to the identification and arrest of Nidhu Kumar Nath, a resident of Karimganj in Assam, at Bank Colony in Khonsa, on Monday. During interrogation, Nath admitted to committing the crime, citing financial distress as his motive.
