New Delhi – Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) has reported a strong performance in March 2025, with total auto sales reaching 83,894 units, marking a 23% year-on-year (YoY) growth, including exports. The company’s SUV segment saw a significant increase, selling 48,048 vehicles in the domestic market, an 18% rise compared to the previous year.
Overall, Mahindra’s utility vehicle (UV) sales, including exports, stood at 50,835 units. The company’s commercial vehicle (CV) division also demonstrated resilience, recording domestic sales of 23,951 units.
Record-Breaking Year for Mahindra SUVs
Mahindra closed the financial year with its highest-ever SUV sales, delivering 551,487 units in FY 2024-25, a 20% increase from the previous year. The company also reported the highest Vahan registrations during the period, reflecting a 20% growth, ensuring dealer inventories remained within optimal levels.
Among Mahindra’s notable milestones for the year were securing the No. 1 position in the SUV segment and becoming the second-largest passenger vehicle manufacturer by revenue. The company also achieved over 50% market share in the Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) category (under 3.5 tonnes) and expanded international operations by 41% YoY. Additionally, Mahindra became the only Indian automaker to earn the prestigious DJSI Index world leader status in 2025.
Strong Demand for Electric SUVs
Veejay Nakra, President of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, attributed the strong performance to the increasing demand across segments. “In March, we sold a total of 48,048 SUVs, registering an 18% growth, while total sales stood at 83,894 units, a 23% increase from last year. We also commenced deliveries of our Electric Origin SUVs, which continue to see strong demand. This year has been remarkable, as we sold over 5 lakh SUVs in the domestic market for the first time ever.”
Commercial Vehicles and Exports Performance
Mahindra’s Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) category under 3.5 tonnes recorded a mixed performance, with sales of LCVs between 2T and 3.5T growing by 23% to 18,958 units, while LCVs under 2T declined by 12%. The Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle (MHCV) segment registered a minor drop of 4% YoY.
The company’s three-wheeler segment saw impressive growth, with sales surging 47% in March, reaching 7,752 units.
On the export front, Mahindra recorded an impressive 163% growth, shipping 4,143 vehicles in March, while overall exports for the financial year surged 41% to 34,709 units.
