Jaipur: Rajasthan girls team created history and brought laurels to the region by winning the gold medal in the 34th Sub-Junior Kabaddi Championship which concluded recently in Gaya, Bihar.
In an exciting summit clash, Rajasthan girls edged past Haryana 39-37 to clinch the yellow metal.
Rajasthan launched their campaign on a rousing note by crushing Manipur 40-5. In their second match, they defeated Maharashtra 63-41. Continuing their brilliant run, Rajasthan dismissed SAI 52-23 in the pre-quarterfinals, while got the better of Chhattisgarh 61-27 in the quarterfinals to enter the semi-finals.
Against Tamil Nadu in the semis, Rajasthan dominated to complete a 40-34 win. Team coach Sujan Choudhary and team manager Rakhi Tanwar played an important role behind this historic triumph.
Rajasthan Kabaddi Association president Tejaswi Singh Gehlot congratulated the victorious team.
"The achievements of this team have not only made the people of Rajasthan proud but also promoted enthusiasm and passion for kabaddi across the country. This victory has proved that the young players of Rajasthan can face any challenge with the help of their skill and hard work," said Tejasvi Singh Gehlot.
