Ballari: Former MLA Gali Somashekar Reddy criticised the state govt for raising the prices of essential goods following Ugadi, despite their pre-election commitments to provide free services and guarantees. During a press meeting on Tuesday, he voiced his dissatisfaction with the govt's decision to increase the cost of essential items. He highlighted that while milk prices rose, farmers were not receiving adequate compensation, leading to a decline in their milk collection.
Reddy accused ministers and MLAs of misleading the public with their guarantee schemes. He pointed out that price hikes affected various sectors, including electricity, healthcare, surgical procedures, revenue services, registration fees, stamp duty, corporation tax, vehicle registration, metro fares, and educational costs. He announced that the BJP would hold an overnight protest at Freedom Park starting Wednesday to oppose these price increases.
Regarding the losses faced by KMF, he attributed them to govt policies and insisted that Mega Dairy should remain in Ballari, asserting their intention to resist Bhima Nayak's efforts to move it to Vijayanagara.
