BJP State unit president K. Annamalai on Monday criticised the Tamil Nadu government’s amendment plea in the Madras High Court against the search and seizure operation carried out by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) at the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) headquarters earlier this month.

In a social media post, Mr. Annamalai commented: “Jittery, panicky & desperate. The DMK Govt wants the investigative agencies not to question them about state-sponsored corruption of over ₹1,000 Crores in TASMAC. If you have nothing to hide, why fear an investigation, Thiru @mkstalin?”

The State government’s amendment petition, along with two other individual writ petitions filed by TASMAC to declare the entire search and seizure operation illegal and to injunct the ED from harassing its staff, has been listed for hearing before a Division Bench of Justices S.M. Subramaniam and K. Rajasekar on Tuesday (April 1).

Earlier in the day, Mr. Annamalai urged the DMK government to come forward to fulfil the demands of those employed in the weaving sector based in and around Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts.

In another social media post, Mr. Annamalai referred to a media report over the food being distributed to students from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. He criticised the State government over the spending of the funds allocated in this regard. He also demanded that the sum allocated to students from these communities for their food be increased.
