Lucknow: Hosts Uttar Pradesh registered a 13-7 win over Maharashtra to advance to the final of the 47th National Junior Girls Handball Championship at KD Singh ‘Babu' Stadium.
Uttar Pradesh will now face Himachal Pradesh in the title clash. Himachal defeated Rajasthan 20-16 in the second semi-final. Meanwhile, Rajasthan and Maharashtra shared the bronze medal. Uttar Pradesh displayed a well-coordinated game against Maharashtra, attacking with agility. UP led 6-5 at halftime but returned with greater intensity in the second half to seal the game 13-7. Suman scored four goals, while Ananya contributed three. UP's Usha was adjudged Player of the Match.
Earlier, in the first semi-final, HP edged past Rajasthan 20-16 in a thrilling encounter, capitalising on key opportunities. ADG (Cyber Crime) Vinod Kumar Singh presented the prizes. The final will be played on Sunday and will be graced by deputy CM Brijesh Pathak.
