Kerala’s GTECH plans single-window hiring system for IT talent

Aimed at hiring the right talent, the Group of Technology Companies (GTECH), operating from IT parks in Kerala, is planning to introduce a unified hiring platform to adopt a single-window hiring system.

GTECH’s MuLearn was introduced at the Launchpad Kerala 2025 programme with the objective to revamp the current hiring system under the Talent Accelerator Programme (TAP) of the State government.

GTECH MuLearn is organising a three-month-long talent acquisition programme in association with the Kerala Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic council (K-DISC) across the State.

Companies will announce the learning path, which can be accessed by students for free. At the end of the learning path, students need to submit their proof of work, depicting a portfolio of problems they have solved or a portfolio of solutions they have created. Only then will they be considered for an interview.

As many as 100 GTECH volunteers will assist college students with the learning path, said Deepu S Nath, Managing Director of Faya India and Chief Volunteer of MuLearn.

The Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission, an initiative of K-DISC, has partnered with online platform Coursera and LinkedIn and designed TAP in 42 domains to equip youth with industry-relevant skills. Currently, 393 colleges are preparing the learning path for students to acquire the skills.

K-DISC has identified 25,000 final year students from Engineering, Polytechnic and Arts and Science colleges as part of its Vijnanakeralam programme and aims to provide employment in partnership with GTECH MuLearn.

He said a panel of CEOs has been constituted, who will talk to the Heads of IT companies to identify vacancies for the next one year and what students have to learn and the skills they need to acquire to qualify for the jobs.

Instead of colleges, companies will themselves prepare the learning path for students. Hiring will take place only after ensuring that candidates have acquired the right skills and demonstrated their capabilities for actual work. This will lead to the selection of talented candidates who can thrive in today’s digital ecosystem, especially with the advent of AI.

The initiative, he said, is building a support ecosystem for the next generation to thrive in their respective domains. It will be implemented in Technopark (Thiruvananthapuram), Infopark (Kochi) and Cyberpark (Kozhikode).

It is time that students are prepared to be agile learners who can easily navigate through uncertainties as conventional methods are no longer suitable for finding candidates who can thrive in today’s digital era, he added.

Technopark CEO Sanjeev Nair said that such initiatives play a key role in strengthening Kerala’s IT talent pipeline by driving upskilling, industry-academia collaboration, and competitive hiring—essential value additions for a thriving tech ecosystem. The Hindu Businessline
