DCP orders increased patrols following councillor’s home attack in Panchkula
Panchkula: In the aftermath of the attack by some youths on the home and shop of Usha Rani, the councillor of Ward 7 in Panchkula, the police have taken several steps to curb anti-social elements and drug trafficking in the area. DCP Himadri Kaushik visited Indira Colony on Friday, discussed various issues with the residents, and ordered strict action against those involved in the attack on the councillor's home. In this case, the police arrested an accused, Sunil Kumar, a resident of Indira Colony.
The DCP was informed about the disturbances caused by anti-social elements and drug traffickers in Indira Colony, Rajiv Colony, and Budhanpur. In response, the DCP took immediate cognisance of the matter, ordering increased foot patrols, continuous patrolling by riders and PCR drivers, and the deployment of female police officers to monitor all activities. The related police station in-charge was instructed to be personally present in the area for at least two hours daily.
Also, the DCP decided to create a WhatsApp group to improve coordination between the police and the public, ensuring that every suspicious activity and piece of information reaches the police promptly. The DCP said the police are there to listen to and resolve issues, so any suspicious activity in the area should be reported immediately.
To apprehend other suspects in the case, police station and crime branch teams are conducting raids. CCTV footage is being reviewed, and locations are being traced. During the DCP's visit, inspector Dalip Singh, in charge of Sector 14 police station, sub-inspector Maan Singh, in charge of Sector 16 police post, councillor Usha Rani, her husband Ramprasad, and other colony residents were present.
