An expert has proposed converting a renowned seaside town in the UK into a contemporary tourism hotspot, drawing parallels between its potential and the luxury and vibrancy of Dubai.
A tourism specialist has proposed a significant transformation for one of the UK’s most iconic seaside towns, envisioning it as a high-end resort comparable to Dubai. The ambitious suggestion highlights that with proper investment, infrastructure, and a clear vision, Blackpool could be rejuvenated into a top-tier vacation spot, reversing years of economic downturn.
Waters envisions a complete overhaul of Blackpool, a once-thriving resort town that was the heart of British seaside vacations but has faced economic struggles and a drop in tourist arrivals in recent years.
Tourism plays a crucial role in the UK’s economy, with Visit England estimating an annual contribution of approximately £106 billion. The World Travel and Tourism Council offers an even larger estimate, suggesting that the sector generated £280 billion in 2024, accounting for 10.3% of the national economy and supporting more than 4.1 million jobs.
Despite its significance, Waters and other tourism experts contend that the industry has been consistently neglected by successive governments.
