Vadodara: The Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) is set to expand its five units at Gujarat Refinery (GR) in Vadodara in 2024-25 under its LuPech project. The refinery officials said the project will be commissioned soon to boost production.
The refinery officials stated that the LuPech project includes revamping the atmospheric vacuum distillation unit (AVU), INDMAX fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU), propylene recovery unit (PRU), polypropylene unit (PPU), and motor spirit block, including naphtha hydrotreater, isomerisation, and CCR units.
This project also involves revamping the existing units, including the Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) unit and a hydrocracker unit. The officials mentioned that IOCL is also developing an Oxo Alcohol project at the Gujarat Refinery. This project will focus on butyl acrylate production and is scheduled for commissioning in the coming financial year.
"These expansions are part of IOCL's strategy to enhance refinery efficiency, increase petrochemical production, and improve product quality to meet future fuel specifications. The projects are expected to significantly boost the refinery's capabilities and contribute to India's efforts to reduce dependence on imports for premium base oils and petrochemicals," an official said.
