In a special drive against rowdies, special teams of Tiruchi Rural Police arrested 57 history sheeters in the last one week.
Forty-three cases were booked against the arrested persons during the drive that was carried out on the instruction of Superintendent of Police, Tiruchi, S. Selvanagarathinam.
The drive, in the first phase, identified the activities of history sheeters and initiated action against them. Action was initiated to detain history sheeters under the Goondas Act, if required, a police press release said.
The special drive would continue in the district with a view to maintaining law and order. The general public could contact the helpline number of the SP 89391-46100 to convey information about history sheeters indulging in unlawful activities.
