Kodanad murder case: summons issued to V.M. Sudhakaran

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Crime Branch-CID police probing the Kodanad murder case has directed V.M. Sudhakaran, disowned foster son of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, to appear for questioning in Coimbatore on March 27.

Sudhakaran’s stake in the Kodanad estate bungalow, where a major heist took place, will be probed.

The SIT is investigating into the fatal attack on Om Bahadur Thapa and assault of Krishna Bahadur Thapa, security guards, at the time of the burglary.

Two Bangladesh youths arrested in Tiruppur

Two persons belonging to Bangladesh — Robin Hussein (32) and Ishaq Ali (25) — were arrested in Tiruppur for living without valid documents. They had joined for work in a private garment unit using fake documents, sources said.

Odisha youth fined for gutka possession in Tiruppur

Food Safety department on Tuesday imposed ₹25,000 fine on Bharatkumar (27) of Odisha for alleged possession of 5.5 kg of gutka, in Tiruppur North Station Limits. The police rounded up Bharatkumar finding his movements suspicious and called in Food Safety officials after finding him possessing the banned tobacco product.
