Two college students were killed in a road accident in Alandur late on Sunday (March 23, 2025) when their two-wheeler hit a pillar of the Metro Rail as they were returning home from an IPL match.

The deceased have been identified as Calwin Kenny, 19, and Siddharthan, 19, from Bharathi Nagar, Ramapuram. They were both engineering students.

The duo had parked their bike at the parking lot of Alandur Metro Station and took the Metro to watch the IPL match in Chepauk. After the match, they took their bike from the parking lot and headed home. As they were taking a U-turn near Asarkana Junction, the rider lost balance and the bike crashed into a Metro pillar. They were thrown off the bike and died on spot due to severe head injuries.

Traffic Investigation Police, St. Thomas Mount, have registered a case, and further investigation is under way.
