Hyderabad: The Union ministry for health and family welfare on Monday presented an award to Telangana for the best national performance in implementing the nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT) during the 100-day tuberculosis campaign in New Delhi.
According to health department officials, the campaign was conducted in nine districts: Adilabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Karimnagar, Mahabubnagar, Medak, Nagarkurnool, Pedappaly, Suryapet, and Wanaparthy.
All nine districts achieved more than 100% of vulnerable population screening, said the officials, adding that over 4,600 new TB cases were detected during the campaign.
As much as 3.6 crore will be utilised to provide six months of nutritional support for people undergoing treatment in the aforementioned nine districts.
Health minister D Rajanarasimha stated that the award underscores the state's determination and leadership in the national fight against tuberculosis.
