After the death of industrialist Ratan Tata, many stories related to him have come to light. One such story is related to putting sugar in the petrol tank of the police bike. But very few know, that during his childhood days he also did a lot of mischief.

This incident related to Ratan Tata’s life is from the time when he must have been 9 or 10 years old. At that time, he used to live in ‘Bombay House’ in Mumbai. Tata later went to college in the US, where he got a degree in architecture at Cornell University. He returned to India in 1962 when his grandmother Lady Navajbai fell ill and called for him.

Ratan Tata had told in a documentary made on him that there used to be Azad Maidan near ‘Bombay House’, where many rallies related to the freedom movement often took place.

Ratan Tata said that at that time even children of his age wanted to join the freedom struggle. Then they would do whatever they could.

He told that at that time children used to put sugar in the petrol tank of British policemen’s motorcycles. Due to this their bikes would get jammed after some time.

Ratan Tata said that after putting sugar in the petrol tank of his motorcycle, the police could not chase him. In this way, the British were hindered in their work.

Indian tycoon Ratan Tata died aged 86, says the Tata Group, the conglomerate he led for more than two decades. Tata was one of India’s most internationally recognised business leaders. The tycoon led the Tata Group – known as a “salt-to-software” conglomerate of more than 100 companies, employing some 660,000 people – for more than two decades.
