Puri airport plan on track, says minister
Bhubaneswar: Plan for developing state's second international airport at Puri is very much on track, commerce and transport minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena said on Monday.
Replying to demand discussion for transport department's allocation of Rs 3,794 crore in the budget, the minister pointed out that for the overall development of the civil aviation sector, the state govt has allocated Rs 382 crore and prepared a comprehensive plan, ‘Building & Management of Aviation Assets and Network' (B-MAAN). Under this plan, development of new greenfield airports at Paradip, Jeypore, Dandabosh, Rangeilunda, Jamadarpali and Tushara, construction of a second international airport at Puri, and further development of the Biju Patnaik Aviation Centre at Dhenkanal are planned.
Plan for a greenfield airport was first mooted in 2021 by the previous BJD govt.TNN
